Grotesque March for Clarinet Quartet

Scored for three B♭ and one bass clarinet | Revised 2006 | 3 minutes
Grotesque March was composed at age sixteen. Originally a clarinet trio, the composer arranged a revised version for four bassoons during his conservatory years in Boston. In 2006 the composer felt it was time for the original clarinet trio to see the light of day—but with additional revisions and an added clarinet for a fuller sound. Throughout his career, the composer has enjoyed injecting humor into his music—often by utilizing brief quotes of very famous tunes by very famous composers. In this little quartet, the sixteen year old composer used this "technique" for the very first time, and included a very well known tune by the March King, John Phillip Sousa.
